COVID-19 is a Major Bruh Moment

COVID-19. Corona-virus. You have definitely heard about it. It's a global pandemic. Due to its seriousness, governments around the world have ordered civilians to stay home. So, now that we have extra time on our hands, what do we do? Well, I have a list of things I like to watch or listen to. Please stay in your homes and stay safe.

YouTubers:
-Kurtis Conner. Kurtis makes commentary videos with comedic skits. He's overall very funny and he's easy to binge. https://www.youtube.com/user/kurtisconner/featured

I mainly listen to Jeremy Zucker with a lot of blackbear, Honne, and mansionz. There's a sprinkle of Conan Gray, Alexander 23, Harry Styles, UMI, Rex Orange County, Alexander 23, Khalid, and Sam Smith. There's also a lot of artists I listen to one song of theirs.

TV Shows/Movies:
-The Fosters (Netflix). It's about a girl, Callie, and her brother, Jude, who move into the home of the Fosters. Callie and Jude have a hard life, going in and out of different foster homes, many abusive, after their mom died and dad imprisoned. With a new possible forever family, it shows the good and bad of understanding how to trust again.

-The Good Place (First 3 seasons on Netflix). Eleanor died. When she wakes up, she is told she is in "The Good Place". Eleanor thinks this is a mistake, considering how she choose life decisions, and with the help of Chidi, she needs to figure out how to be morally straight.

-Total Drama Island (Netflix). This is a satirical game show in which teens, in the style of cartoons, are placed on a island that could be described as the opposite of paradise. Each are trying to win the large prize money award, but stereotypical mean girls, weirdos, jocks, and eye candy may stand in your way.

-Locke and Key (Netflix). Moving to their deceased dad's hometown, the Locke children find these magical keys-- but somebody else wants them as well. Trying to protect the town from demon control, the Locke kids need to figure out how to secure these items and not destroy the town.

-I Am Not Okay With This (Netflix). A teenage girl struggles with her family life and sexuality whilst also finding out she has superpowers that she doesn't know how to control.

-The Last Summer (Netflix). Four seniors are heading off to college. But the summer before, the need to learn how to deal with new relationships, old relationships, and what the real world is all about.

-Alex Strangelove (Netflix). A boy with a lovable girlfriend finds he has feelings for another boy. Will his internalized homophobia and fear of losing an amazing girl get in the way of living his truest self?

-Catch up on homework. I know it's the last thing you want to do, but if you are behind/struggling, now is the perfect time to catch up.
-Exercise. You can go on walks/bike rides, but it is advised you stay at least six feet away for safety reasons.
-Baking and cooking

Book List:
-Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (this is probably my 4th time rereading). In this post-apocalyptic society, Katniss Everdeen steps in to replace her sister for the Hunger Games. To remind citizens of their powerlessness to those at the Capitol, children 12-18 years old fight to the death to claim a winner. With survival being second nature, this scrappy teen becomes a true contender for the Games.
-Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepety. Four refuge teens during the winter of 1945 in Europe need to escape the war lands by boarding a ship called Wilhelm Gustloff. With the Soviets advancing, these teens to to figure out a way to survive in harsh conditions.

-The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. An African American girl goes the the richest and whitest preparatory school in her town, but she lives in the poorest and mostly black neighborhood. Constantly trying to be "white enough" at school and being "black enough" at home, her world comes crashing down after a police officer shot her childhood friend, thinking his hairbrush was a gun. How will she stand up for what is right, being the only witness of the murder?

-Symptom of Being Human by Jeff Garvin. As the child of a congressman in conservative Orange County, Riley is a closeted gender-fluid teen who struggles with dysphoria and anxiety. Using a blog under the pen name Alix, Riley vents about their problems in the world as gender-nonconforming. However, someone seems to have found out about their identity, and Riley is under pressure to come out.
