jodo shinshu buddhism and black lives matter

So much is going on right now. Protests, black squares on Instagram, petitions, phone calls, emails. All of this in name of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement. It’s the talk of on the news, between sports leagues, and brand companies have out statements as well. The reverend of my temple has made some comments too.  This week, he has put out two videos, one for the regular Sunday service and another on Wednesday to speak specifically on the Black Lives Matter movement. Both videos encapsulated the connection to the current happenings of our American cities and Jodo Shinshu Buddhism. I think what our reverend, Matt Hamasaki, had to say was important. In his Dharma Talk, or message, this week was all about the values we cherish the most in Jodo Shinshu Buddhism can easily be applied to how we can become involved in helping amplify black voices and why we should. In our sect of Buddhism, we are taught about interdependence and to cherish wisdom and compassion.  Within interd

what i've been up to and the obsession of productivity

Hello, so I haven't been on here. I mean, I meant to it's just I have had so many ideas, written it, realized it wasn't that good and it was me more rambling (which is what I do in all the other ones really), but not the good kind of rambling. Just a rambling I wasn't fond of for myself.  But anyways. I have recently learned all of the states of the US's capitols and flags. I didn't take very long surprisingly. Maybe an hour or two for both. I've done a little more journaling (collage type of stuff) and decorated some Jenga blocks. I decorated a tiny purse. I went TikTok famous again. TikTok fame is so odd, but from the experience I have learned my audience is 12-20 girls, gays, and K-pop fans. I also started a fanfiction for my friend; it's Minecraft themed. They absolutely love it! I made a PowerPoint about how and why whales get self-conscious about their dick size. That was fun. I've done my online schoolwork-- most of it at least. Watched YouTub

Thoughts

Thought one: I forgot to post last week. Thought two: I mean. Thought three: What if I had a brother? Thought four: I should map out my alternate universe's life's childhood house. Thought five: Gosh, what is my fifth thought.  Thought six: Here we go I have an idea. Why don't I lay out my dream life for funzies. Okay. Thought seven: Wait, let me text a friend. One sec, keyboard. Thought eight: Those are some weird eyelashes. Thought nine: *is thinking of responses to friends* Thought ten: Ideal life: go.  Thought 11: I should really turn of Gilmore Girls to write this. Thought 12: Wait, I can use Arabic numerals to write out the numbers. Wait, besides the point. Thought 13: I mean I definitely want to travel. All over. My main thing in the United States is going to every state and every basketball arena/center and watch a game. I want to travel in a nice little tiny school bus home because that just seems kinda cool. I want to

COVID-19 is a Major Bruh Moment

COVID-19. Corona-virus. You have definitely  heard about it. It's a global pandemic. Due to its seriousness, governments around the world have ordered civilians to stay home. So, now that we have extra time on our hands, what do we do? Well, I have a list of things I like to watch or listen to. Please stay in your homes and stay safe. YouTubers : -Kurtis Conner. GAS-lighting

Gas-lighting-- it's typically seen as a form of emotional abuse to cause the victim to question their personal morals and beliefs because of degradation by the gas-lighter. For example, say you are in a relationship. One day, you have your favorite outfit on, and your partner says, "You look ugly in that shirt. You'd have more friends if you didn't wear it so often." After that comment from a beloved, you start thinking about their comment, every time you see the shirt. You don't want to wear it again, so you throw it in the back of your closet. And then one day, the two of you are going through your closet, trying to donate old clothes and trinkets, and you come across the shirt. You put it in the box and your partner says, "Why are you throwing that away? You are beautiful in it." "No, you said I looked ugly," you reply. They deny it, calling you "crazy". You don't understand. You've been avoiding this shirt, your

hahaha what if i started a blog... jkjkjk... unless????

Perhaps this is the time to tell you about myself. You see, my name is Jennifer or Jen or Jen Jen or um... whatever you chose. It should probably have at least a "j" in it. Katie would be an odd nickname for me. Also, my childhood songs are Same Love by Macklemore (took me forever to spell that) and Ryan Lewis as well as Sweater Weather by The Neighborhood. And I did not watch Hercules until 8th grade while I was cat-sitting. I am 16 years old as of today. Wow! Amazing! Also, I'm queer. In other words, liking people. And, like, wanting to kiss people. As long as it's legal and consensual though. I'm not Katy Perry. Oh! And I am Buddhist; and I am also Asain. And a kid! Amazing. I do not know what else to say???? Besides maybe my favorite color combo is green and orange, and I am 1000% Team John Ambrose. Well. That tis it. Below are links to medias I mentioned! I hope I get better at this blog thing. I mean this is similar to the first day of school whe
